I am new to vector design, so there is quite a learning curve and things that appear simple from the online tutorials I am having to plod through and figure out one step at a time. So far no complaints with this book or the software. Good stuff! Only for Desktop Affinity Designer. This book is only for the desktop interface, not the ipad version.
I read up and found out that Affinity designer doesn't even want to make an instructional guide to the ipad interface. I plan to eventually get the desktop version although I work mainly on my ipad for most projects and this is somewhat backwards and pompous for them to not listen to their users and create a ipad version. For me personally it was a waste of money until I get the desktop edition.
The book is incredible, with high quality finishes and materials. It has a lot of practical content, to improve the use of the software. One person found this helpful. Essential reading for those starting in Affinity Designer! Extremely excellent construction! If this were sold as a college book, you'd be out well over a hundred bucks! Cannot recommend this enough!

They are the best! I'll preface this review with the fact that I'm an experienced software industry technical writer for an engineering and web portal design person for perspective. I love the full color illustrations and the explanations provided in the book. The descriptions are clear and concise in terms of functionality of each tool, panel, persona, etc. I'm not quite through the book yet. The one issue I had with this workbook was finding the resources for each chapter.
It was a bit confusing for this old software girl. I was expecting to go to a website and click a link for each resource to download. That's not how it works -- and once I grasped that concept it all made sense. SO - when you buy this book and you see the resources for each chapter noted at the beginning of each chapter - don't expect a webpage to show up after you type the link into your browser.
